After stops in Alaska, Guam, Maryland, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Fort Defiance, Arizona, Denise finally figured out the ideal place to live. Her goal is to raise BALIF’s profile in the community and get the word out about the social action, amazing events, and other important work that BALIF does.

Denise Bergin is partner at Weaver Austin Villeneuve & Sampson LLP, a boutique IP firm in Oakland. Her practice focuses on counseling clients on strategic patent portfolio development in a wide range of technologies, performing IP-related due diligence, and preparing opinions of non-infringement and invalidity. Areas of expertise include nanotechnology, green technology, sensors, chemical processing methods and equipment, and chemical and biological-related software. She began her legal career at Fish & Neave (now Ropes & Gray) in New York.
Denise graduated summa cum laude from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art with a B.E. in Chemical Engineering, and also received a M.E. in Chemical Engineering from the Cooper Union. She received her J.D. from University of California, Berkeley School of Law.
She lives in San Francisco with her wife.
