Why support BALIF?
- Our mission is to lead the LGBTQI+ legal community through advocacy, justice, community empowerment, and professional development.
- Despite Covid-19, BALIF has continued to offer robust CLE programming and events, including CLEs on trans issues, diversity, and allyship in the legal workplace; an HIV COVID forum; virtual legal clinics and trainings in partnership with the Oakland LGBT Center, Berkeley Law School, Transgender Gender-Variant Intersex Justice Project (TGIJP), and National Lawyers Guild (NLG).
- BALIF offers a mentorship program with over 100 participants; advocacy and education on issues that will increase diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, such as Proposition 16, changes to the California bar exam, and updates to the 2022 State Bar survey.
- BALIF strengthens the LGBTQI and other marginalized communities by partnering with other minority bar associations and organizations on social action initiatives, social events, scholarships/fellowships, and MCLE courses.
The Gala is our major annual fundraiser and provides the majority of BALIF’s funding. This year we hope to continue to bring in the vital Gala funds BALIF needs for our important work, including programs, training, social and networking events, and community giving.

Sponsorship Levels and Gala Tickets!
For your sponsorship, your firm/company will receive the benefits listed below, including complimentary tickets to the 44th Annual BALIF Gala: Celebrate Advocacy! The Gala, BALIF’s largest annual event, boasts over 600 attendees, including lawyers, in-house counsel, judges, lawmakers, law students, and other legal and local luminaries. The 2024 Gala will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at the Julia Morgan Ballroom located at 465 California Street in San Francisco.
This year’s levels and benefits for sponsorship are as follows:
Partner Level: $7,500
- Banner recognition as a Partner-level sponsor through the end of calendar year 2024 on the BALIF website, in the BALIF newsletter, and recognition at all BALIF sponsored functions. As a Partner, your firm’s logo will be displayed at the Gala event, at MCLE events, monthly networking receptions, and other functions.
- Admission for twenty (20) people to the BALIF Gala.
- Admission to BALIF's VIP reception before the Gala with in-house counsel, judges, the BALIF Board of Directors, National LBGTQI Bar Association Board members, and other legal and local luminaries.
- A customized full-page Gala program advertisement.
Counsel Level: $5,000
- Priority recognition as a Counsel-level sponsor through the end of calendar year 2024 on the BALIF website, in the BALIF newsletter, and at all BALIF sponsored functions, including your firm’s logo displayed at the Gala event, at MCLE events, monthly networking receptions, and other functions.
- Admission for ten (10) people to the BALIF Gala.
- Admission to BALIF's VIP reception before the Gala with in-house counsel, judges, the BALIF Board of Directors, National LBGTQI Bar Association Board members, and other legal and local luminaries.
- A customized full-page Gala program advertisement.
Advocate Level: $3,000
- Recognition as an Advocate-level sponsor through the end of calendar year 2024 on the BALIF website, in the BALIF newsletter, and in all printed and online 2024 Gala materials.
- Admission for ten (10) people to the BALIF Gala.
- A customized half-page Gala program advertisement.
Benefactor Level: $2,000
- Recognition as a Benefactor-level sponsor through the end of calendar year 2024 on the BALIF website, in the BALIF newsletter, and in all printed and online 2024 Gala materials.
- Admission for five (5) people to the BALIF Gala.
- A customized quarter-page Gala program advertisement.
Patron Level: $1,250
- Recognition as a Patron-level sponsor through the end of calendar year 2024 on the BALIF website, in the BALIF newsletter, and in all printed and online 2024 Gala materials.
- Admission for three (3) people to the BALIF Gala.
Individual Sponsorship: $750
- Recognition as an Individual sponsor through the end of calendar year 2024 on the BALIF website, in the BALIF newsletter, and in all printed and online 2024 Gala materials.
- Admission for two (2) people to the BALIF Gala.

For your sponsorship and advertisement to appear in the 2024 Gala program, you must respond, and your payment must be received, by Friday, February 9, 2024. If you should encounter any problems, please do not hesitate to contact us.
