Santa Clara University’s upcoming symposium, the “Corporations and International Law” will take place on March 12-13, 2010.
The Symposium will feature internationally renowned academics and
practitioners at the forefront of current issues regarding corporations and international law. The conference will take place in the Benson Memorial Center ’s Williman Room on the Santa Clara University campus.
The Symposium will feature four panels on the Alien Tort Claims Act, Global Corporate Social Responsibility, Bilateral Investment Treaties and the regulatory implications of the United Nations’ “Protect, Respect and Remedy” framework. Jose Alvarez, the Keynote speaker and Herbert and Rose Rubin Professor of International Law at the New York University School of Law, will speak on “Corporations as Subjects of International Law.”
Additionally, U.C. Davis Law Professor Anupam Chander will give a
lunchtime address on “The Social Responsibility of Information
Technology Companies.”
