As stated in BALIF’s Articles of Incorporation, BALIF’s mission is:
The specific purpose of this corporation is to discuss and take action on questions of law and justice that affect the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community; to strengthen professional and social ties among its members; to build coalitions with other legal organizations to combat all forms of discrimination; to promote the appointment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender attorneys to the judiciary and public agencies and commissions; and to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information of concern to members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender legal community.
